This past week I was inspired to hear Dr. Oz talking at a USANA convention I attended. I’d like to pass on some of the highlights from his talk. For those of you who don’t know, Dr. Oz is well known for his fun and interactive TV health show and USANA is a premier nutritional research and development company. The two have joined forces in combatting obesity in our society.
Dr. Oz emphasized how belly fat is becoming the #1 health problem in society. Waist size is what’s important not weight. Your waist size should be ½ your height or less. Belly fat blocks the kidneys, increasing blood pressure; poisons the liver; and blocks insulin from working, increasing diabetes. It also significantly increases aging and the deterioration of our health.
Dr. Oz’s insights on dieting: First, we all make mistakes. When you do, you need to get right back on track. And secondly, smart dieting is a marathon not a sprint.
Both Dr. Oz and USANA, are teaching a similar philosophy to that of my own program, First Get Healthy. To lose weight, you really need to, first and foremost, focus on getting healthy. It’s a journey that needs to be taken one step at a time. Small steps towards health will result in BIG permanent weight loss solutions.
